I’ve been bragging repeatedly for the past few weeks about choir and how it takes up so many hours a week. My father had already anticipated this since the start of the year and has been reminding me time and again to manage my time wisely so as to keep up with my lectures and tutorials. Of course, I didn’t. He wouldn’t have to keep reminding me if I could. However, when I look around to the other choristers, they never seem to have a problem about turning up for extra practices sessions to meet those unreasonable deadlines. In fact, they are the ones who initiated these sessions. Are they coping well academically? Or is it just me? I don’t think they would want to fail their tests too right? That’s why I keep thinking I just need more time to study than they do.
Speaking about studying, it just turns me off. It’s not just about finding time to settle down and study. Even when I finally do find the time, focusing is an even bigger problem. Furthermore when I get stuck at a question, there is a high tendency to spend even more time revisiting the question again. However, I always console myself to the fact that I’m not alone and many other people face the same problem. Then again, that’s no excuse.
Not long ago, Wentao, our class assistant CT representative, sent an SMS to our class regarding Miss Tengara wanting our class to carry out a class CIP project that I, as the welfare representative, would be in charge of. Until now, I have not approached her regarding it. Over the weekend, I have thought over what we as a class can do. I must say, our class, 06S64, is quite a unique class. From an outsider’s point of view, we are a bunch of lazy people who cannot be bothered to do anything other than those which are compulsory. However, as an insider, I feel that our class is a very mature and fun-loving class. I enjoy being in 06S64. But taking everything into consideration, I feel that it would not be appropriate to organize a trip out of school to carry out CIP. After all, the turn up would not be good.
As such, I have two proposals. First, we can find a way to sell food items in the canteen like how the netball team has sold ice-cream. Another feasible food item would be waffles (yum-yum). Then, the profits received would be donated to charity. Secondly, we can invite external vendors such as Bread Talk or Old Chang Kee to bring in their products into the school canteen and we can sell them as a class. Before they step in, we could arrange a deal with them to donate part of the earnings to charity. I feel that the idea is brilliant! We do not even have to step out of school and we can do our part for the community. After all, money does make the world go round. As for the other aspects of CIP where service is involved, we’ll leave it to another time when the class is ready.
