Since my first year in high school, I have never stopped writing essays or journals for such a long time. It has been a few weeks since our last essay writing exercise in school and I have stopped blogging for a while already. Floating in the midst of piano collections by the Final Fantasy Series, it makes putting down one’s thoughts into words a joy.
During this period of time, most of us have already settled down and gotten used to the pressures of juggling homework and tests, CCAs and our social lives. However, new things just keep appearing before me, making me question what actually settling down means.
PE lessons are really interesting as different classes were split into different modules and we were lucky to kick off with tennis. It was a whole lot more fun and joy compared to the rounds we ran around the school in preparation for our Annual Cross Country at the start of the year. I love tennis. When I first came to know about tennis, I found it very amazing to be able to play this “expansion” of table-tennis. While playing table-tennis I was already very excited about learning the different spins and smashes. Then, I was introduced to tennis. I was totally awed at how players rallied with each other. It just feels so satisfying to me to be able to bring the ball right over the net with speed. As such, I do play tennis sometimes with friends in our free time and use it to keep in touch with others from my orientation group or even those in different schools.
Recently, choir practice has also been much more interesting with the approaching of our concert in May. When we start to master our songs, strive to sing in harmony and endure the hardships together, it just feels more exciting as the days draw closer.
I must admit that I still am struggling to catch up with the lectures and tutorials. I know that once I am behind, it is hard to catch up. It is a vicious cycle. Once you are about to fully understand a topic and complete its tutorials, a set of new notes and its accompanying tutorial makes it way into your file. My father always reminds me, “Yes, you must enjoy your youth and make the most out of it. But no matter how you put it, studies will always come first. Make sure you put your priorities right.”
